Here are some things that I like using, from a variety of areas like bath products and cleaning supplies

Avalon Organics Lavender Cream Shave – I know not all ladies may shave, but this in one habit I can’t make myself break, at least in this point in my life! lol I love this stuff! I happened across it when shopping at Albertson’s when they were closing a bunch of stores. It was marked down to about $2, and I couldn’t resist, since it was a large bottle of it. I have sensitive skin, and it irritates very easily, but this cream shave has worked for me! It provides a super close shave, and ultra soft skin, and it takes just a little bit to do the job. I have even noticed that my razors last longer too. This product is one that I plan on using on a long term basis.

Johnson’s Melt Away Stress Moisturizing Wash – I tried this one free. I had a coupon for $4.00 off, and found it for $3.99 at Walmart. Otherwise I would not have tried it due to my skin. I have tried Johnson’s other adult body wash, and I broke out! But this stuff didn’t and I was so happy 🙂 It smells so good, with a hint of lavender, but its not overwhelmingly perfumy. It is one of the few body washes that leaves my skin feeling really soft. I get it when I can, I just love it!

– Crocheted Nylon Pot Scrubbers – I buy these on Ebay at T.C.’s Book Boutique . They may seem pricey, but they are nice scrubbers, and last a long time. To save money, look for the multipacks. I bought a multipack of 10, and saved a bit of money. I also have tried cotton scrubbers from a different Ebay seller, but I didn’t like them because they didn’t dry fast, and the cotton seemed to want to come apart faster. T.C. does offer bigger scrubbers, and 2-in-1 scrubbers (both of which I have yet to try). I use these for every thing from bathrooms to dishes, and with the rainbow of colors, I can color code which ones are for what.

Mr. Clean Magic Eraser Extra Power – Over the past year or so, I have been phasing out using harsh chemicals to clean. I was reluctant to try this because it seemed too good to be true. I broke down and bought one when I saw how cheap they were. Now that was the original magic eraser, and I was pretty disappointed that it started falling apart almost immediately. I had a coupon and decided to try the Extra Power eraser, hoping it would hold together. Much to my surprise, it did last much longer than the original. I was pleasantly surprised to see pencil and ink pen marks come right off the wall, and all I had to do was take a wash cloth afterwards to clean what the eraser took off (it kind of smeared) but after that , there were no marks left, and it saved having to bring out the paint. This is a product that I use occasionally, when I need to clean kids toys and stuff like that from the thrift shop (it takes off grease pencil markings quite well) and my stainless steel sink (though I think that is not recommended because it does scratch a little, but not like anyone would notice in our sink!)

I know that there are some rumors out there on the Magic eraser and other similar products, claiming that they can cause chemical burns. From my research, the instance referred to, could have been from rubbing it on the skin, and from what I read its mostly not true. I recommend wearing gloves, because of the abrasive effect, it did dry out my hands between the rinsing it out and rubbing it on the items. Here is where I got my info, the links should take you directly to the page about the rumor:

Its been a little while, but here is a little bit of writing! LOL

An interesting blog, brought to my attention by an acquaintance on Myspace: The Chapel Veil Campaign by The Catholic Knight and Modesty in Dress article which I found the link on that blog. I am not Catholic, but I figured fellow modest and covering sisters would find this an encouragement!

I have also been thinking about doing a blog (possibly a blog series, if you will) on various things, but the thought that comes to my mind is products that I use, and why I like them. Not because I receive any endorsement, but I find product reviews helpful myself, and want to share my experiences with them. I think it would include just about anything, from bath products, cleaners (homemade and store bought) and various other things (toys, clothes etc).

A huge thank you to Anna for nominating me 🙂 for the Blogging with a Purpose award!
Here are the rules:

Photobucket

1. Awarded parties must nominate five people who have not received the award.
2. The blogs that receive the award must serve some purpose.
3. In their post about the award they need to link back to the original entry.
4. Awarded parties must post the award banner on their site. The banner must remain linked to Eric Novak’s site.

Here are the nominees, I have to admit, that I have not read very much of their blogs, but I did read the About Me section, and a couple of blogs…So I can’t say that I know these people real well 🙂 But overall, these people do have purpose in their blogs! These are in no particular order:

1. Maidens of Modesty – For their encouragement of young ladies who are wanting to live a pure life

2. The Simple Mom -For her site dedicated to frugality, homemaking and simple living. I wanted to nominate her personal blog too, but decided to lump it together. Her personal blog serves great purpose, in the beauty of God during a very trying time in her life.

3. Gloria Filiorum Patres – For his blog about the importance of fathers and faith.

4. A Lady in Waiting – For encouraging young women as they await their husbands

5. Veiled Glory – I like reading about her life, and journey with headcovering and modesty!

I’m back!?

Okay my blog reading friends, I am finally back. Not totally refreshed or renewed like I had hoped, but doin’ ok 🙂 I am going to take it easy for a while, really taking my time in my blogging. I want to learn to focus more, and really start writing a little better lol.

There are a few changes I am making, I hope it all flows better once its done.one of the things I hope to accomplish is making this blog more focused on Modesty, headcovering, and Biblical Femininity. Homeschooling and homemaking will be touched on some too. That being said, I will be deleting most “personal” posts, dealing with other issues, and leaving those things to my xanga blog. I feel I have more control over privacy settings, and such. I really want to protect our family from some of the horrible things I have heard about. If you are interested in my more day to day life, then go check out my blog on there. I think its set up that you have to be signed in to xanga or something like that. Don’t freak out when you see that certain posts have been deleted or there are some layout changes, I promise it will be all ok 🙂

Oh! A fellow blogger had nominated this blog for the “Blogging with a Purpose” Award! That would be my first “award”! 🙂 I will post my nominees soon, so please stay tuned for that.

And if you have not heard, one of my fave ladies to buy things from, Wendy from wendysmodestdress.com has closed her shop 😦 All after much prayer and consideration. She will be missed in the modesty and headcovering community, our prayers and blessing will be with her as she follows God’s lead! I have removed her links, and she has asked if you have linked to her, to please remove the link, so if she decides not to upkeep the website, there will be no immodest surprises if another party buys that site.

Well, thats it for now!

Love and Prayers,

Kristie
