So much has been going on : hubby’s birthday, youngest daughter’s 4th birthday, Hubby getting his bachelor’s degree, hubby’s surprise grad party, etc etc etc. I am glad that things are calmed down for the most part, but I need to start planning for VBS and our vacation! πŸ˜›

Also the past month or 2 my youngest finally decided to be potty trained. I was having horrible issues with her…she is one strong-willed child! lol I had given up on trying the traditional approach (consistently making her sit on the potty every 20- 30 minutes, whether she goes or not), because she would sit on the toilet and scream. Not because she couldn’t go potty, but because she didn’t WANT to. Every couple of weeks I would make her sit on the potty, letting her cry. Then I wouldn’t force the issue for a while. One day, she actually went, and was super proud of her “accomplishment” and decided from that moment on that she was done with diapers, pullups and the like! (my oldest daughter was much the same way, one day she decided she was ready, and that was that). I tried to convince her to wear pull-ups for extended car drives, but she won’t even consider it. Now we have to visit every bathroom we pass, sometimes multiple times in one trip…but I try not to discourage her too much lol.

So, that’s pretty much it for now, I haven’t had time to sit and think about anything I want to write about, and it may be like that until after vacation πŸ™‚

Its that time of year again… πŸ˜› It was close yesterday, fortunately hubby was home, to help maintain control of the children πŸ™‚

I am praying for those who have lost their homes and other property, lost loved ones, etc.Β  This season is both the toughest and greatestΒ  here in Oklahoma. One could experience total devastation, and the support of the community all at the same time.Β  While tornado season is the reason I do not enjoy living in Oklahoma, the strong sense of community makes it one of the best.

for more info check out one of our local news sites. They should have some fantastic video of some of the tornadoes along with the devastation left behind.

Today is the day hubby finishes up 3 finals! I am so looking forward to him graduating next week πŸ™‚

Mother’s Day was great too πŸ™‚ Hubby really made me feel special:Β  He woke me up and had brought Starbucks πŸ™‚ which is a real treat around here, since they are so pricey we usually just go to 7-eleven for that type of stuff. He also had flowers, cards, little garden bird decorations (“from” the kids!) and a gift card to Cato (one of my fave stores now!). He fixed me breakfast, and we went out to eat for dinner.Β  It was probably the best Mother’s Day yet πŸ™‚

After lunch, I went out to spend my gift card at Cato. I had been there a couple of weeks ago and did quite a bit of shopping then, but I wanted get a few things in time for our trip to Florida next month. I was able to find long jean skirts for $10.99 and $11.99 on the clearance racks. I also found a couple of shirts on clearance also for $6.99. So total, I got 4 shirts and 3 long skirts πŸ™‚

I HIGHLY recommend them for modest clothing. They had a huge selection of the long skirts (most of them no slits), lots of modest options for shirts and dresses.Β  They also had some capris and longer shorts.Β  The clothing is stylish and modern with reasonable price. As a “young” plus size girl (who tries to dress modestly), it can be hard to find stuff that 1) covers in all the right areas and 2) doesn’t look like something my grandma would wear. (no offense to my dear grandma!) I especially love the spring dresses right now…they have several that have the 1950s influence πŸ™‚

now for some pics of my garden :

my herbs are on the right side : oregano, rosemary, basil, mint, chive, thyme, along with strawberries, a border of Mexican heather and marigolds

balloon flowers, when I bought them they looked like little balloons, and then opened up a few days later. They are so cute!

Our rose bushes are in full bloom, more blooms than last year! Some branches are weighed down by the blooms

various plants, I don’t even know the name to all of them! I know I have some impatiens, vinca vines.

I fell in love with these! I love how bright they are and they have a dark purple centers. In addition to the orange, I have a yellow plant as well. These are some of the most beautiful shade plants I have seen!
